Invisibility Science

OK, that index of refraction trick was pretty cool, but scientists aren't really working on ways to make things invisible, are they? Well, actually...

Optical camouflage is being developed in Japan, and it can make a person or object seem to almost disappear. The subject wears a coat made of a reflective material like a projector screen. Special cameras take pictures of the scene behind the subject and project it onto the coat. It looks like you can see through the subject!

Other scientists at Duke University in the U. S. have made a device that makes things invisible to microwave energy. You would still be able to see the object with your eye, but it could not be seen by radar.
